There is no single wash setting that is correct for every Stone Island garment. The brand works with cotton, wool, nylon, down, membranes, coatings, garment dyes and specialist treatments, so the safest care advice starts with the label on the exact piece.
Step 1: identify the garment and fabric
Use the full ART or product reference where available. Knowing whether you are dealing with Nylon Metal, Membrana 3L TC, Soft Shell-R, down-filled outerwear or a cotton sweatshirt changes the care questions you need to ask.

Step 2: read the sewn-in care label
Treat the garment's own label as the primary instruction. Do not copy a wash temperature, dryer setting or detergent recommendation from another Stone Island product simply because the jackets look similar.
Step 3: inspect technical fabrics before washing
If a laminated jacket already shows bubbling, peeling or layer separation, washing will not magically reverse that damage. Photograph and inspect the condition first.

Step 4: protect removable details where the label allows
Check whether badges, detachable linings or accessories should be removed before cleaning. Empty pockets and secure fastenings in the way instructed by the garment label.

- Do not use fabric softener on technical outerwear unless the manufacturer explicitly allows it.
- Do not iron, steam or tumble dry a specialist fabric unless the exact label permits it.
What about anti-drop or DWR finishes?
A surface water-repellent treatment can lose effectiveness through wear or contamination. That is different from a membrane delaminating. If reproofing is appropriate, use a method compatible with the exact garment rather than a generic hack.
